In the introductory session on the day we will watch an episode of the top rated TV-program in the survey. We then will analyse it along the lines of gender statements and stereotypes.<\/p>\n<p><b>13.00 &#8211; 14.30<\/b><\/p>\n<h3>Kevin Davison (NUI Galway): Role models for boys in primary schools<\/h3>\n<p>Dr. Kevin Davison is a Lecturer with the School of Education at The National University of Ireland, Galway. He teaches, researches, and publishes in the areas of: gender and education, masculinities and schooling, research methodologies, and science outreach. In addition to a number of academic articles and reports, he is the author of <i>Negotiating Masculinities and Bodies in Schools: The Implications of Gender Theory for the Education of Boys<\/i> (2007, Mellen), and <i>Masculinities and Schooling: International Practices and Perspectives<\/i> (2007, Althouse).<br \/>\nIn his presentation Kevin Davison will address the debate on role models for boys.<\/p>\n<p><b>15.00 &#8211; 16.30<\/b><\/p>\n<h3>Co-education as topic in teacher training and teaching practice<\/h3>\n<p>In numerous situations in everyday school life aspects of gender play a role. How are teachers prepared to address these issues?
